controlled demolition, it's hard to get over the stark there-and-then-not nature of seeing a building implode into rubble in mere seconds.
This video shows the demise of a 27-story tower in Xi'an, China. It happened in 2015, but it popped up on Reddit recently and is worth revisiting just for one startling fact: This skyscraper was never used. According to Xinhua:
It was finished in 1999, but was never put into use. Authorities said the building had stood empty too long for it to be transformed for other use.
The forever-alone building will make way for an entertainment complex.
